  • Main requirements for banner ads in Mail.ru and Odnoklassniki.ru

    1. File size should not exceed 60Kb.
    2. File formats: .GIF, .JPG, .PNG or .SWF (for flash banners)
    3. Background of the banner cannot be transparent, content of the banner should occupy all banner size, and banner with light background must be framed with a 1px frame
    4. At the top of the banner there should be 21 pixel free space left for portal geotargeting information («Реклама в Латвии»). Example.
    5. THE FOLLOWING BANNERS ARE NOT ACCEPTED:

      • Banners with portal interface elements

      • Eye-irritating banners

      • Banners similar in appearance to porno-sites advertising.

      • Containing information about the direct competitors of the portal.

    6. Third-party scripts for banner loading are not accepted.
    7. The following certified third-party statistic counters can be added for independent audit of impressions an clicks: AdHands, AdFox, AdRiver, DoubleClick, Gemius, MediaMind, TNS, Weborama. Для аудита проекта Почта возможно использовать только пиксели следующих систем: Adriver, MediaMind, Weborama/Adrime.

    Technical requirements for Flash banners

    1. In addition to banners, an image (GIF, JPG, PNG) of the same size should be submitted – it will be used in case user does not have Flash installed.

    2. Flash banners should be published in 10-th or older version (ActionScript 2.0 / ActionScript 3.0).

    3. Flash banners should contain the following action script:

    4. Flash banners should not contain code performing other functions than animation.
    5. Banner should not interact with the page, other sites (e.g., call up information from other sites or use external scripts), camera, microphone, exchange buffer, or use data stored on the user’s computer
    6. Applying methods impeding analysis of banner content are forbidden.
    7. Animation should not overload CPU. Banner should use no more than 35% (60% on peak) CPU resources (1.5 GHz Celeron is considered as etalon).

    Technical requirements HTML5 Display Ads

    1. .zip file should include .html file and all referenced assets
    2. Allowed asset file types: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .css, .js, .svg
    3. Maximum .zip file size: 150 Kb
    4. File names should contain only ANSI characters
    5. Character set for text files: utf-8
    6. Clickable area with %link1% macro as destination URL required
    7. Clickthrough links should open in new window
    8. <meta name="ad.size"> tag with creative size required
    9. Should work correctly in browsers: IE 10+, Firefox 14+, Safari 5+, Chrome 18+
    10. Backup image or graceful degradation for unsupported browsers required

    General recommendations

    Technical requirements for video banners

    Video banner consists of 2 two parts: flash (SWF file) + video (FLV file). In addition to banners, an image (GIF, JPG, PNG) of the same size should be submitted – it will be used in case user does not have Flash installed. All banners and links have to be submitted at least 3 (three) work days before the beginning of the campaign.

    1. Flash banner should have built-in video player, weight should not exceed 60Kb and it should meet Main requirements for banner ads and Technical requirements for Flash banners.
    2. Video can be loaded and played by user’s initiative only. Banner should contain a play/pause button during all frames.
    3. If video banner is with sound, then banner should contain sound on/off button, and when the banner is published, initially sound should be switched off.
    4. Due to security issues all resources have to be placed on Mail.Ru servers.
    5. Video file *flv weight should not exceed 1 MB
    6. Link to the video file will be sent to flash banner in “video1” parameter. Code example:

    Technical requirements for video banners with automatic start

    Video in video banners is played via AdmanClipPleer player, with built-in controls (Play/Pause, sound on/off buttons). Player has its own AdmanClip statistics library, providing statistics in accordance with VAST standard:

    • Turning sound on/off
    • Pressing Play/Pause button
    • Length of video watched: 25,50,75,100%

    Certified third-party statistic counters can be added for each event.

    Video banner options:

    • By default video in banner starts automatically
    • Video can be without sound (in this case there will be no sound on/off button)
    • Video in banner can be cycled (for cycled video statistics will show total number of 100% video watched)
    • Video can occupy any part of the banner area, moved vertically or horizontally from the center (video size and placement should be specified in pixels)

    Technical requirements for video file:

    1. Duration - no more than 30 seconds;
    2. Maximum weight – 2Mb.
    3. Video resolution should not exceed 640x360 pixels. Video resolution can be set to the size of the banner (240x400, 300x300, etc.) and fill the entire banner. Graphic banner in this case will serve as a plug.
    4. Flow requirements:
      • Video Bitrate: 400-450 Kbit /s. Frame rate: up to 25 frames / sec.
      • Audio bitrate: 80-100 Kbit /s. The volume level is not more than 30 dB
      • Total bit rate: 480-550 Kbit /s
    5. Video file formats:
      • MP4 (MPEG-4) video codecs H.264, audio codec - AAC.
    6. Video should not be misleading (it cannot contain buttons that duplicate services and other elements).
    7. Video controls (Play/Pause, sound on/off buttons) will be placed in the right lower corner, therefore video should not contain any important content in the right lower corner.

    • Video banner without graphical wrap.
    • Video banner with graphical wrap
    • Video banner with graphical elements over the video

    Technical requirements for interactive Flash banners

    1. File size should not exceed 60Kb
    2. File format of additional resources: SWF
    3. Size of all additional resources should not exceed 250Kb
    4. Additional resources should be loaded by user’s initiative only (banner should have an intuitive button for playing additional animation, e.g., «узнать больше» (see more) or similar)
    5. If additional animation has sound, user should have a sound-off turning option (banner should have sound-off button «выключить звук» or similar at all times during additional animation)
    6. Due to security issues all resources have to be placed on Mail.Ru servers
    7. Links to additional resources will be sent to flash banner in parameters video1,video2, .. videoN (maximum – 5). Code example:

    8. For statistics of interactive elements, a separate pixel should be used for each event measured. Links to pixels will be sent to flash banner in parameters event1,event2, .. event5

    Technical requirements for banners with expanding video

    1. Expanding part expands only on mouse-over, and is shown while mouse is on expanding part
    2. Main banner is non-clickable, it does not have to contain any video or sound controls. Non-irritating texts and design elements are allowed for motivating users dragging mouse over the banner.
    3. Controls (Play/Pause, sound on/off,..) are only in expanding part.
    4. Video controls (Play/Pause, sound on/off buttons) will be placed in the right lower corner, therefore video should not contain any important content in the right lower corner
    5. The following statistics on expanding part are available: number of first-time activations, and total number of activations.
    6. Sound, if video has one, in expanding part by default should be switched off, it can be turned on by user’s initiative only (by pressing sound on/off button).

  • Technical requirements for Flash banners with expanding Flash

    1. Expanding part expands only on mouse-over, and is shown while mouse is on expanding part

    2. Banner format – SWF files only .
    3. For independent statistics of impressions an clicks via certified third-party statistic counters the following should be submitted:
      • Two links for click statistics (or one, if clicks from each banner should not be counted separately
      • One link for impression statistics (N.B. flash banners in double format are loaded simultaneously, therefore one impression is counted for both banners)
    4. Requirements for “stretching” Flash-banner 100%x60:
